Wotton, due to a very thorough and extensive warm up, were out of the blocks fast with good quality leads off the ball. Wotton being the dominant force kept possession of the ball early on in the game. This lead to Whitchurch exerting much more energy than Wotton. Therefore within the first fifteen minutes the ball ended up in the back of the Whitchurch net four times. Ryan Howarth scoring two, Darren Pearce and Henry Patteson also beating the keeper to put Wotton 4-0 up.
By the end of the first half, Wotton were down to ten men, which lead to a drop in intensity. at points Wotton became sloppy with possession. However the quality of Wotton showed through and by half time two more goals had be scored. These coming from Harry Wilcox and another goal from the top goalscorer, Ryan Howarth.
By the start of the second half Whitchurch increased their effort levels and Wotton had taken their foot off the gas. This lead to a goal being scored against Wotton to make it 6-1. Another goal from Ryan Howarth and a Matthew Fairburn short corner made it 8-1. Then the final goal came from Whitchurch from Wotton's lacklustre marking.
Overall 8-2 and Wotton were the dominant team which took the three points. It's an exciting part of the season, where only five games remain. With Wotton and Hereford now on level points, it could all go down to the last game of the season as to who will be Champions.
