Following a very enjoyable season of training and matches at Coombe Dingle, the following WUE HC players have been selected to represent the University of Bristol TA at the upcoming Talent Academy Cup:
Boys:
Zane Assal
Fergal Brewer
Charlie Emms (co-capt)
Gavin Patterson
Scott Patterson (co-capt)
Matt Pullin
Ted Wallace
Girls:
Nina Blackburn
Jocelyn Reynard (co-capt)
Boys u16 players Charlie Day (Team Bath Buccaneers TA) & Freddie Hill (Stourport TA) will also be playing in the Cup for their ‘home’ Talent Academies
Charlie Emms & Scott also had the honour of being named/elected co-captains of the Boys squad by their peers and coaches, while Jos was named co-captain of the girls team - great news for our clubmates and a great reflection on our club! In addition, Charlie is Bristol’s TA rep on the England Hockey ‘Player Voice’ panel and has already taken part in online meetings with EH Leadership & fellow TA attendees from around the country to provide player feedback on the revised structure.
Talent Academies are intended for the highest potential 15 – 18-year-old players outside of NAGS (National Age Group Squads).
The TA Cup is the culmination of the 2023/24 cycle with a four day competition at Nottingham Hockey Centre from 28-31 July. Players will stay in accommodation at the University of Nottingham and learn what being part of a ‘performance’ competition environment is all about. For some, there will be the opportunity to be observed for potential selection into NAGS squads for 2024/25.
Congratulations on your selections and good luck to all of our players at this competition
