Along with c200 hockey clubs around the country WuE HC will again be running 'Back to Hockey'...

...as part of our governing body's initiative to introduce, or welcome back to, our sport

BACK 2 HOCKEY!

Here's the plan.

One pitch, six weeks (with a nice break for half term).

Every Thursday evening, starting at 1930 and lasting for one hour. A short fun warm-up, then lots of great games and activities to get you used to playing with a bat* and ball, and finishing with a set of fun mini-games.

*(Some people call it a stick, but I think they can be quite geeky about such things)

What could be more exciting and interesting? An hour in the evening sun, having a laugh and playing sport, and with the opportunity to continue involvement with our sport into the following season at what ever level you wish (player, club volunteer, or spectator)

If you fit any of the descriptions below, please get involved:

1. Never played hockey, but fancy seeing what all the fuss is about.

2. Played a bit of hockey, but that was on grass. And 20 years ago. And I got muddy.

3. Don't want to play hockey, but I do support a child/partner who seems to be infatuated with the damn sport. All I want is to be able to understand the game as a spectator.

4. Played hockey for a number of years, but children/food/work/court order/long-term deployment to the Spratly Islands has prevented me from getting back to it, until now.

5. Never played hockey. Why am I on this page? Who are you all?

6. Just fancy playing some sport. I love sport, me. No good at it, but I do love it.

The sessions will be led by members of the ladies and men's senior squads from WUE HC, who will be on hand to make sure that you all get the most from the sessions, and really enjoy being there.

If you're interested, please message Gideon York directly, or e-mail him on gideon.wottonhockey(at)gmail.com. There are plenty of spaces, but we need to make sure that there are enough bats at each session for all who fancy a go. Even if you can only make a couple of sessions, do please come along.

Dates:

19 May

26 May

(break for half term)

9 June

16 June

23 June

30 June

Cost: £1 per session. Yes, folks, that's all you need to bring.

Gear: The only kit you will need, apart from comfortable sports kit, is a pair of shin guards. If you don't have some, just let me know and I will find some spares for you. Children seem to be an ideal source of sports kit these days...

Any questions? Just ask away.

Gideon.
